August First Friday Social: Corsets & Chevrons: A Salute to Women in American Military History
August 2 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Members of the Custom House Maritime Museum are cordially invited to our First Friday Social on August 2, 2019 featuring Aileen Kelly.
Take a stroll through history as you hear about some of America’s leading ladies both on and off the battlefield, from the Revolutionary War through the Vietnam Conflict. Learn about their heroic, pioneering deeds that set the path for young ladies through time to forge their own paths and make a place for themselves in our history.
Aileen Kelly has been a living historian and reenactor for over 20 years; her areas of specialty include impressions from the Civil War, WWI, and WWII. She is a graduate student of military history, with degrees in both history and anthropology, and is a professional archaeologist. She has worked with numerous museums and historic sites across New England as well as being associated with living history groups and events across the East Coast.
Come and enjoy a variety of Spanish wines from Jorge Ondonez — along with fine craft beers from Newburyport Brewery — the official beer of the Custom House Maritime Museum! Refreshments will be served.
Please, remember to bring your membership card with you!
Guests are encouraged to become members.
